There are some cool little animations too, like tanks lurching backwards and forwards as you accelerate and brake. The graphics leave a lot to be desired but, after a few minutes of playing, I've got used to them again.

I picked the game up years ago but just recently pulled my PS2 out of the loft and fired the game up. There's also an arena whereby you can fight bosses away from the main storyline. It's so addictive to fly over the battlefield, unleash your 16-missile launcher, then fly away to reload whilst the enemy panic below. You save up cash from battles to buy/unlock gear for your tank, such as radar to find enemies, wings to fly, weapons, armour, engines, etc. There are helipads available in each town to move around automatically if this gets boring.Īlso, equipment sells for the same price as you buy it, so there's no barter system. The map to move between towns and battles is quite cool in that you can use your special abilities to traverse the landscape, and fire your weapons too. You get some of the best powerups early, like guided missiles (16-missile launcher, anyone?), so you're not spending the game struggling and then get one boss battle to use the best gear. There's a lot of quirkiness in Seek & Destroy but, my God, I just can't put the game down. The missions vary from laughably easy to gob-shiteingly hard you can't check the stats of tanks that you unlock until after you've chosen one you have to pause the game to read the briefing since the prior cutscene often makes little sense to upgrade, save, change equipment, etc, you have to drive around towns instead of pulling up a simple menu.
